Even if you have just walked out of an exam that you feel went badly, it doesn’t matter anymore! Finding time to relax after your exams is really important.

Besides, the most important thing right now is that you’ve finished! Exams season is a long slog, so you should be proud of yourself for completing it, that’s something worth celebrating at least!

Above all, how you choose to celebrate this success is entirely up to you. Go for a meal, spend time with friends, go to the park and get some fresh air and clear your mind… Do something that you’ll enjoy!

Let’s take a look at how we can do this! Clear your headspace by clearing your desk space! Nothing says ‘de-stress’ like getting rid of all those revision notes, textbooks and mind maps! Make sure you don’t chuck/destroy/shred anything, but file away your books and papers to help clear your head and help you to wind down. As they say- ‘Out of sight, out of mind’.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, don’t stress about what your exam results might be. We know that it’s obviously easier said than done. Everyone undoubtedly thinks about results, and yes, it’ll be a worry in the back of your mind. The key thing is to not let it dominate your thinking time. Make sure that you busy yourself during the days. Keeping occupied through socialising or activities is a great way to distract yourself from thinking about exams and is a surefire way to ensure that you have a fun summer. Put things into perspective: overanalysing the situation won’t change anything. Nor will it make time speed up, so just try to make the most of your downtime.

Sleep is a process of unwinding both your mind and body, something which it will really need after the intense exam period. Post-exams, you can sleep in and take naps without feeling guilty.  Your body may feel fatigued, and your brain may feel like sawdust, which isn’t a surprise!

There is a huge hype surrounding exams. As a result, they are often presented as the pinnacle of life itself- as the ultimate crux of everything you’ve been working to. Whether it’s going shopping, playing video games, having a spa day or just watching Netflix sprawled across the sofa, it’s vitally important that you take some time for yourself to unwind.

Do some exercise, bake something, read a book or start a new hobby. Hang our with a friend. The important thing is to let your brain chill out for a few days.

After all, it’s been working hard with all that exam preparation and will need a break.
